Early demonstrations and tests suggest cables may soon become obsolete.

A Silicon Valley startup has demonstrated a wireless charging system capable of powering multiple devices simultaneously across an entire room, without requiring contact with a charging pad. The technology uses focused radio frequency beams to deliver power to devices up to 30 feet from the transmitter.

During a live demonstration for investors and journalists, the company showed smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers charging at rates comparable to wired connections while users moved freely around a conference room. The system automatically identifies and tracks compatible devices, adjusting beam direction and intensity in real time.

Safety testing conducted by independent laboratories has confirmed that the RF energy levels fall well within regulatory limits for human exposure. The company has filed for FCC certification and expects to begin shipping commercial units to enterprise customers by the end of the year, with consumer products following approximately six months later.

If the technology delivers on its promises at scale, it could fundamentally change building design, eliminating the need for power outlets in many applications and enabling new categories of permanently powered IoT devices that never require battery replacement.
